Pantherios was kindred with Romanos I Lekapenos, father-in-law of Konstantinos VII (Theoph. Cont., p. 429 : ?tPantherios, syngenes of Emperor Romanos?u).
Pantherios Skleros had three children, Maria, wife of John Tzimiskes, Bardas and
Konstantinos. One can think that Psellos would have said that Konstantinos Doukas
was a scion of Emperor Tzimiskes or of the famous general Bardas Skleros, so he
was more probably issued of a daughter (or a granddaughter) of Konstantinos
Skleros and Sophia Phokaina, and so a sister (or a niece) of the famous empress
Theophano.
